What is Barkus and Meoux?
The
Krewe of Barkus & Meoux, Inc. is an all-volunteer, non-profit corporation whose mission is
to develop, foster, and promote programs to benefit abused, neglected, and homeless animals,
as well as to promote responsible pet ownership with a spay/neuter program.
How can I get involved?
Monthly
meetings are held to discuss local activities. Interested parties are welcome to join us. You can find us the
first Tuesday of each month at Petco's Community Room on Youree Drive
in Shreveport (back of the store ; Pet friendly)
beginning at 6:00 p.m.
What kind of activities does the Animal Krewe sponsor?
We
are proud to organize the Krewe of Barkus & Meoux Pet Parade
each Mardi Gras season. The Pet Parade is our main fundraiser
to help the animals. All help is appreciated. Please call 752-CATS if you can help.
What is the Spay/Neuter Program?
"Spay
a Pet & Save a Life." The Program is designed to provide spay or neuter service to a
segment of the population that is economically disadvantaged. The focus is made to serve mainly
the elderly or those less fortunate, who have limited financial resources. This is a special
community service program to provide assistance to those who are unable to afford to have their
dogs or cats spayed or neutered. Spaying and neutering also helps to limit the pet population,
thus, in turn, helps prevent neglect and unwanted animals. The Krewe encourages education to the
public about being a responsible owner. |
